Who Is Sasha?
First
let me take the time to introduce myself to you.
My
name is Sasha;I am a 6-year old Shih-tzu and the
inspiration
for Sasha's Suds n' Duds. The idea for this
store
came while my parents, Jan and Michael Bulawa,
were
on vacation in San Diego, California. They came across
a
self-service dog wash and pet boutique, and that's when
it
hit my mom - this was just the thing she wanted to do!
After
spending 25 years in the hotel business
(that's
175 dog years), she was looking for a change.
This
was good news for me, because it would give us more
time
to spend together. She spent one year researching the
self-service
dog wash business and then went to work finding
the
perfect location. She wanted the store to be fun and
customer
friendly with a "retro" look to it. There is a lot of
unique,
cool stuff for dogs, cats (yes - cats - can you
believe
it?!) and even their parents.
Our
Staff
Sasha - A six
year old blond and white Shih-tzu, and name-sake
of
the store. She is the greeter of all our guests, and official
cookie
taster. Not one to be spoiled, she likes to have her
breakfast on the "veranda", otherwise known as the porch.
Sasha has become quite the little model and you can see her
in our Paper City advertisements. When she is not greeting or
modeling, you can find her lounging in the store in her
"Furcedes"
dog bed.
Jan - As the owner of Sasha's Suds n' Duds, I handle
all
the buying, (with plenty of input from the staff,) and oversee
the
day-to-day running of the store. My years in the hotel
industry
taught me, you can't put a price on customer service
and
attention to detail. Those are the most important things you
can
give to your customers.
Margaret
- Margaret is retired, but enjoys working
part-time
at Sasha's. She owns a large Golden Retriever named
Bosley,
and he can be seen in one of our ads lounging in his bathrobe.
Margaret's
husband is a good sport, and played Santa at our annual
holiday
party. He was a BIG hit with all the dogs.
Heather
- Heather has worked part-time at Sasha's for 3 years.
She
has developed quite a following with our customers, and knows
all
the dogs by name. A Kinesiology student, she plans to get her
Masters
degree in Physical therapy. While she wants to get a dog of
her
own, for now, Heather takes great pleasure in being around all the
dogs
here at Sasha's, and her grandmother's lab, Maggie.
Kristin
- Kristin worked part-time when I first opened Sasha's while
she was a student at University of Houston. Even though she has a
full-time job now, you will still find her here helping out during
"Yappy Hour" nights, and will sometimes fill in on a week-end.
We are all here to show you around the store,
and
assist you in every way we can.
